Volatility describes how far a price tends to swing. A stock that often moves 4 % a day is more volatile than one that moves 0.5 %.
In a 1 vs 1 where you are behind on paper, one or two volatile picks raise the chance of a big result in either direction. In a large tournament, several volatile picks can help you stand out from the crowd.
